Hackers hacked into a Twitter account belonging to lawyer Jeremy Hogan, who defends cryptocurrency companies. On his behalf, scammers published messages about the distribution of XRP.
Jeremy Hogan has closely followed the legal proceedings between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Therefore, it is not surprising that the hackers chose his account to publish messages about the free distribution of XRP in order to “celebrate” Ripple’s victory over the regulator.
Seedstarter founder Jesse Hynes was one of the first to spot suspicious tweets on behalf of Hogan. Hines was outraged that the compromised account incident could ruin the lawyer’s vacation. So the user reached out to other XRP enthusiasts to help spread the word about the Hogan account hack.
“Hogan is just trying to take a vacation with his family. Let the man rest. Already so tired of scammers, ” wrote an outraged crypto enthusiast.
Recently , lawyer John Deaton, who defends the interests of XRP owners, found himself in a similar situation . Deaton managed to gain control over his account only after a few days. He urged users not to believe reports of altcoin giveaways or other gifts posted on behalf of Hogan.
Recall that in March, hackers hacked into the official account of the popular Indian news channel News 24, posting a message about the distribution of 100,000,000 XRP.
