Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced plans to launch a full suite of services on its new platform in Japan as early as August.
The founder of the company, Changpeng Zhao, announced this at a conference in Tokyo. Binance acquired Sakura Exchange BitCoin in November 2022 and has stated that it is going to create a platform that is fully compliant with local regulations.
Also at the event, Binance representatives said that the company may launch stablecoins, as Japan recently introduced laws that allow licensed banks in the country and registered companies to issue tokens.
Binance is starting to actively expand in Asia, including South Korea and Thailand. The company also launched a regulated digital asset platform in Kazakhstan.
Recently, the Japanese authorities announced that they will introduce stricter measures to combat money laundering through cryptocurrencies. The new rules came into effect on June 1, 2023.
