Nonprofit charities have begun accepting cryptocurrency donations to help the thousands of Afghan refugees who fled the country following the Taliban onslaught.
New York-based nonprofit Hearts & Homes for Refugees is collecting donations to help the roughly 20,000 Afghans still in the country awaiting special immigration visas. The organization hopes to raise enough funds to relocate Afghan families to Westchester County and accepts donations through the Giving Block service in cryptoassets BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC, ZEC, GUSD, BAL, YFI, MATIC, SNX and BNT.
Jack Butcher, founder of the consulting firm Visualize Value, has released a series of non-fungible tokens (NFT). On his Twitter page, Butcher wrote that the proceeds from the sale of each “package of services” covered the needs of one Afghan family for a month. Cryptocurrency users have the opportunity to buy 10 NFTs at once for 0.28 ETH to help ten families by the end of September.
Crypto-asset charities are widespread in the United States, with cryptocurrency donations lowering the donor’s tax base. For this, a number of services have been created that allow you to get acquainted with the list of organizations and transfer funds. The most popular platform has become the American Giving Block service, which allows you to send donations in cryptocurrencies to more than 300 charitable organizations.
Back in 2017, the Russian non-profit charitable foundation Give Life began accepting donations in BTC, ETH and LTC cryptocurrencies through the Podari.Life partner fund. Legally, this is an American foundation, which was created to provide assistance to the wards of the Grant Life Foundation.
