EIP-3675 contains confirmation of the merger of stakes in ETH 2.0 and brings the Ethereum network closer to the transition from proof of work to proof of stake.
Ethereum developers continue to work on merging the current Ethereum 1.x network with the already running Beacon Chain, the first stage of Ethereum 2.0. The redesigned EIP-3675 will be one of the last steps towards proof of stake.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin confirmed that the transition to ETH 2.0 may be delayed. But the project was delayed by several objective factors.
First, the developers expected it to take much less time. When the project was first proposed, the team believed that the transition to PoS would take less than a year. But in fact, it has already taken almost six years to implement this project, and many problems have not yet been resolved.
Another problem was conflicts within the team. It has previously been suggested that the persistent delays were due to technical difficulties, but Buterin confirmed that one of the main reasons for the delays was related to the people working on the project.
“One of the biggest problems in our project is far from technical. These are problems related to people. Over these five years, we have had many intra-team conflicts. If you are building a team, it is important to know who you are working with, ”said Buterin.
