Users of the confidential Brave browser will be able to receive the earned BAT tokens directly to wallets on the Gemini cryptocurrency exchange.
According to a statement from the developers of the Brave browser, the Gemini exchange user wallet has been integrated into the Brave Rewards program, which gives users the opportunity to receive the BAT they have earned directly into their account on the exchange. Brave users earn BAT tokens for every ad viewed while using the browser. These tokens can be sent to content creators or exchanged for cash or other crypto assets.
According to the statement, Brave users can either link their Gemini account to their Brave account or create a new account on the Brave Rewards page. The BAT balance will be displayed on the Gemini account as an exchange-purchased asset available for trading. Tokens can still be used for translation by content creators.
Brave Rewards is also integrated with two other custodian wallets: Uphold and bitFlyer for Japanese users. What’s more, users can still trade assets using Brave’s widgets for Binance, Crypto.com, FTX, and Gemini.
Brave Rewards product manager Christopher Nguyen said the browser is not removing any functionality or trying to distract attention from the Uphold wallet that US users have so far relied on to store BAT. “This is just another opportunity for our users,” he said.
However, the rollout of the new integration did not go smoothly. The Brave devs received several comments yesterday morning from users claiming that after syncing their Brave Rewards with the user’s Gemini wallet, their BAT balances dropped to zero. The Brave Community Administrator urged patience:
“Transactions are taking a little longer than expected due to the high volume, but we are working to sort this out. If you see zero BAT balance in your browser wallet, don’t panic. Your tokens are not lost, everything will be fine. ”
Recall that in the spring, the Brave developers announced plans to quickly integrate the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) wallet, which will open browser users access to DeFi products on the BSC. In addition, in February, a built-in DEX aggregator and Brave Wallet appeared in the browser.
