Popular content creator platform OnlyFans, known for its “adult content”, has announced support for NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain as profile pictures.
According to Reuters, the new feature has been in development since last December, when Amrapali Gan took over as CEO of OnlyFans. When setting a collectible token as an avatar, an Ethereum icon will appear on the image, confirming that the user owns the NFT.
“Our mission is to help creative people reach their full potential. This feature is just the first step in using NFT on our platform,” said Gan.
Recall that in January a similar function appeared on the social network Twitter, and a little later, the popular Internet forum Reddit began testing the use of NFT for user avatars. At the same time, Twitter came under criticism from Tesla founder Elon Musk, who said that the company could have spent these developer resources on more useful things.
