Zurich Cantonal Bank (ZKB), Switzerland’s fourth-largest bank by market capitalization, has begun offering digital asset trading and custody services.
ZKB announced the integration of digital platforms ZKB eBanking and ZKB Mobile Banking for cryptocurrency transactions. At the initial stage of the cryptocurrency project, clients will have access to trading operations in bitcoins and ether.
“Our crypto asset offering offers a high level of security and enables integration with other currencies and applications,” said Alexandra Scriba, Head of Institutional Clients and Multinationals at ZKB.
Users of cryptocurrency services do not need to open an individual crypto wallet or worry about storing private keys – these operational maintenance processes are taken care of by the bank.
Earlier, the Bitcoin Initiative, led by Yves Bennaim of 2B4CH, initiated a referendum on amending the Swiss constitution. The group intends to oblige the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to include BTC along with gold in its reserves.
