The Flare mainnet launch will take place in late June, after months of testing the technology on a testnet. The Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) will be integrated into the network and support for smart contracts will be added.
According to the official statement from the Flare Networks development team, there are 5-6 weeks before the start of the main Flare network. The distribution of the FLR cryptoasset will take place from mid-June to mid-July. The project team emphasized that this will allow the coins to be distributed safely.
The exact date and time of FLR distribution will depend on when the last rounds of security testing are completed. Flare is currently undergoing extensive testing as part of the second iteration of its Coston testnet. The launch of the first phase of the mainnet was interrupted due to issues with Metamask synchronization, after which the nodes were updated to v1.3.1 of the Avalanche consensus.
As such, Flare Networks is almost back to its previous roadmap and plans to launch the main network. Earlier, project CEO Hugo Philion set a launch date for Flare’s main network for May 2021.
Meanwhile, the project has already built a vast ecosystem around its tools. The Flare Finance (DFLR) token giveaway is now supported by the major exchange Bitrue. In addition, the Sparkles NFT platform has confirmed its plans to use Flare as the primary technology environment for its business.
Flare Network plans to provide a platform for scaling tokens and applications of the Ethereum network. Engineers are integrating the EVM into the Flare network. Thus, Ethereum smart contracts will operate on the Flare Network, and Flare itself is already linked to XRP through the “bridge” proposed last summer.
The Flare Network and Ripple partnership began in November 2019, and in May 2020, the company launched a testnet for smart contracts on XRP Ledger.
