The Chinese government platform Blockchain Service Network (BSN) has announced a partnership with TON Labs to develop applications based on the TON protocol.
TON Labs will provide BSN developers with access to the Free TON blockchain, created on the basis of Telegram developments, which will allow creating various applications based on TON technology. The protocol will be adapted in accordance with the requirements of Chinese law, and will be integrated with BSN as an open managed blockchain (OPB).
Given the strict regulatory framework in China, the BSN project comes in two flavors – BSN China and BSN International. Cooperation with a Chinese government project will allow TON Labs to expand its presence in the Chinese market by providing services to local firms legally. This will increase the value of the project, and developers will become more active in using the TON protocol, said Yifan He, CEO of Red Date Technology, which is involved in the development of BSN.
Cyril Paglino, CEO of TON Labs, noted that such cooperation is aimed at closer interaction between decentralized and centralized enterprises. Despite some regulatory challenges, you can always find a way to use the latest technology without breaking the law. Recall that in May, the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, announced the termination of work on the Telegram Open Network (TON) platform. The project was closed due to litigation with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Disputes with the department began back in October 2019, when the SEC considered Gram tokens to be unregistered securities. A federal court in New York upheld the agency’s position by blocking the distribution of Gram tokens in the United States and in other countries.
Despite the closure of the platform, the developers continued to work on Durov’s project, which had lost the “battle” with the regulators. They launched several networks including Free TON. In China, Free TON has a rival, the Chinese TON Community, which launched the TON Community test network in July.
BSN platform already supports Tezos, NEO, Nervos, EOS, IRISnet, Casper and Ethereum blockchains. BSN added support for Algorand, ShareRing and Solana in September, and Polkadot, Oasis and Bityuan in November. Through these partnerships, BSN is becoming an international blockchain infrastructure provider.
