The government of El Salvador has launched a general education program on cryptocurrencies for public school students.
The training program was launched on the second anniversary of El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender. Her goal is to educate school teachers about cryptocurrencies so that they can teach their students a course on the basics of cryptography and the use of digital assets.
“The introduction of Bitcoin in El Salvador shows that changing the financial system requires training those who will use new methods. Therefore, the government of El Salvador switched to an educational approach when faced with a lack of knowledge among citizens,” said the project organizers.
The Salvadoran government’s partners in creating a training course and organizing the educational process were teams from two cryptocurrency projects: Bitcoin Beach and Mi Primer Bitcoin.
“Instructors from My Primer Bitcoin and Bitcoin Beach will teach public school teachers the basics of blockchain and how to store, receive and send bitcoins. Teachers will then pass on their knowledge to students in local schools across the country,” reads the comments to the training course.
According to local media reports, citing information received from the management of Mi Primer Bitcoin, in addition to El Salvador, several other Latin American countries are interested in learning the basics of cryptocurrency literacy. For example, in El Salvador, more than 200 Mexican students will undergo a 10-week training in technologies for using digital assets.
Earlier, Advisor to the President of El Salvador, Max Keiser, said that, in his opinion, digital assets will help countries withstand the onset of a global economic catastrophe that could unfold in the coming months.
