FC Inter Milan and Zytara Labs, with the support of the DigitalBits Foundation, signed a partnership agreement worth € 85 million, under which XDB will become the football club’s “official cryptocurrency”.
DigitalBits (XDB) will become the “official cryptocurrency” and Zytara will become the “official digital banking partner” for FC Inter. The Inter mobile application, which will allow users to subscribe to Zytara banking services and access cryptocurrency products, is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
The Inter app will become the main way to buy tickets for FC Inter’s home matches at the club’s online stores and retail outlets throughout Milan. Also, digital player cards and collectible tokens (NFT) for the fans of the club will be created on the basis of the blockchain.
In addition, the DigitalBits brand will be a new partner for Nerazzurri. The XDB logo will appear on all jerseys of both the men’s and women’s teams of FC Inter, as well as Primavera and the youth team, during all official domestic and international matches.
Since the end of 2019, famous football clubs around the world, such as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, have launched their own tokens, for which you can buy, for example, the right to display your video on the screen of the stadium during a game or play stream from the club’s locker room.
In 2020 and 2021, fan tokens were issued by other clubs, including Manchester City, Roma, Milan, Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray. It is expected that in the future, using tokens, fans will be able to choose the player of the month or the color of the new kit, as well as get the opportunity to meet in person with their favorite football player.
The impact of the pandemic has not spared professional football. In connection with the introduction of quarantine restrictions, starting in 2020, the Champions League games began to be played without spectators. Attending football matches has become an unaffordable luxury, and digital platforms are the only way to interact with the fan community.
