KuCoin cryptocurrency exchange expands its presence in the Web3 ecosystem with the KuCoin Wallet decentralized platform.
The wallet platform is currently only available for the browser, however, as the company promises, a mobile application is already in development and will be launched in June. The platform connects to the KuCoin ecosystem and provides cross-cloud integration. Exchange customers will be able to buy, sell, exchange and send all major digital currencies, including bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and the stablecoin Tether (USDT).
The wallet is non-custodial, so users will manage their own keys. As the KuCoin ecosystem continues to implement and support decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible token (NFT) functionality, the KuCoin Wallet roadmap will include the addition of these services as well as GameFi.
KuCoin’s own Windvane platform will support some of these features – users will be able to trade and view NFTs in the wallet. In April, Windvane launched a $100M Web3 Developer Fund to help support early-stage NFT projects, says crypto exchange CEO Johnny Lyu:
“Cryptocurrency wallets represent the door to the Web3 world, so they are important for users who want to participate in a decentralized ecosystem. They have evolved into something more than just a digital asset storage tool. The launch of the KuCoin wallet demonstrates our determination to join the Web3 space.”
Earlier, the Romanian division of the cryptocurrency exchange Coingrig announced that it will integrate its crypto wallet into the Nordigen platform to make it easier for users to access assets.
