The manufacturer of cryptocurrency wallets Ledger announced its readiness to cover the losses of users incurred during a high-profile hacker attack on the company’s hardware devices.
Ledger promised that, in addition to financial compensation to the affected owners of hardware crypto wallets, the company will update the software on the devices. By June 2024, users will be able to stop signing cryptocurrency transactions blindly.
With blind signing, Ledger users do not see all the details of a blockchain transaction before authorizing it. This has led to abuse by hackers.
Ledger said: the development team actively interacts with decentralized applications to ensure transparent signing of financial transactions. Going forward, with Ledger hardware wallets, users will be able to view and verify transactions on the device in detail before logging out.
Earlier, representatives of the Ledger company released a statement that they were able to identify and remove the fake code of the Ledger Connect Kit crypto hardware wallet, which put many crypto services at risk.
