According to a study by Harris Poll, 29% of US citizens surveyed know about the comic cryptocurrency DOGE, while only 21% of Americans have heard about the air.
In just five years after the launch of Ethereum, developers have introduced the world to smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi) and the ability to profit from “profitable farming”. In addition, on the basis of the Ethereum blockchain, non-fungible tokens (NFT) are created, which today are in great demand among media personalities. As for DOGE, this meme cryptocurrency did not bring any innovations and does not pursue any pre-term goals. However, over the past year, DOGE has become very popular in the cryptocurrency market, given that its rate is often “accelerated” by multi-billionaire Elon Musk with his tweets.
A group of researchers Harris Poll conducted a survey among 2,063 US citizens on the topic of cryptocurrencies. It turned out that despite all the merits of the developers of Ethereum, much more people know about Dogecoin (29%) than about ether (21%). In general, 89% of respondents know about cryptocurrencies, bitcoin is known to most respondents (71%). DOGE ranked second in popularity among Americans. 21% of survey participants are familiar with the USDC stablecoin, launched by cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and Circle. 18% of respondents said they know LTC, and 10% know about XLM.
31% of respondents believe that cryptocurrencies can become the future of the financial system, another 30% called them “innovative” assets. At the same time, 23% of respondents consider cryptocurrencies as a tool for getting rich quick, and 19% doubt the capabilities of digital assets, believing that they are used for illegal activities. Less than half of Americans (44%) declared their readiness to receive cryptocurrencies as cashback.
According to a recent survey conducted by Mastercard in conjunction with the Harris Poll, people’s interest in cryptocurrencies is growing, and users are ready to invest in them if they better understand how digital assets work.
