NFT creation platform Rarible has integrated the Tezos blockchain, which will allow users to buy, sell and create collectible tokens with low fees.
Tezos is the third blockchain supported by the Rarible platform, after Ethereum and Flow. Rarible co-founder and CEO Alexei Falin said that integration with Tezos is made possible by the Rarible Protocol, an open source, community-driven, open source NFT Internet Protocol.
The platform chose Tezos because of its low commission costs and a Proof of Stake (PoS) algorithm that does not require high energy costs. In the future, Rarible plans to integrate with the Solana and Polygon blockchains. According to Falin, blockchain interoperability could be a key factor for the successful development of NFT.
As part of the collaboration, Rarible and Tezos have released a collection of non-fungible tokens called Blazing Futures. Curated by Diane Drubay, founder of the We Are Museums community and NFT developer at Hic Et Nunc. The Blazing Futures collection features exclusive works by ten Tezos artists.
Rarible will also support secondary sales of Digits tokens from PC game developer Ubisoft, which are in-game items. Rarible co-founder Alexander Salnikov called Ubisoft’s entry into the NFT industry a natural step, since the latest technology allows gamers to make money on what they love.
However, Microsoft gaming chief Phil Spencer is wary of NFT in gaming. Considering that there is a lot of speculation with collectible tokens, Spencer called them a means of exploitation, not entertainment of users.
