Korean electronics maker Samsung continues its NFT and metaverse development with the launch of an electronic version of its 837X flagship store on the Decentraland platform.
According to Samsung’s website, the virtual store is replicating its physical prototype located in Manhattan, New York. The new store on the Decentraland platform was named 837X.
“This is one of the largest ever for a brand to enter the Decentraland virtual platform,” Samsung said in a statement.
A virtual cinema will be launched on the basis of the 837X store, broadcasting Samsung news from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). It should “let guests learn more about Samsung’s fast connectivity and solutions.”
Also, a new site based on Decentraland will talk about Samsung’s tree planting initiative. In partnership with the Cardano blockchain platform Veritree, the company plans to plant 2 million trees in the first quarter of 2022.
Michelle Crossan-Matos, Senior Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics America, said:
“The Metaverse allows us to transcend physical and spatial limitations and create unique experiences that would not otherwise be possible. Innovation is in our DNA and we look forward to seeing everyone in this fast-growing virtual world. ”
