Umbrel, the developer of the Bitcoin full node app suite, has released an update with three new apps to keep users’ transactions private.
Umbrel has released an update v0.3.3 which includes three new applications and opens access to the Bitcoin mempool. The update gives Umbrel users more privacy and a new way to create Lightning wallets for friends and family.
The Umbrel update includes the Samourai Server, which runs the Whirlpool and Dojo services. The app enhances the privacy of Umbrel users and provides step-by-step instructions for self-configuring the Samourai wallet.
Also included in the update is the Mempool app, an open source Bitcoin mempool explorer. Umbrel users can now use Mempool not only to visualize the mempool itself, which reached 125,000 transactions last week, but also to get estimates on the size of commissions or search for key data, such as specific transactions, blocks and addresses, right from the full node …
The third application is LNbits, an open source Lightning Network Wallet system. Umbrel customers can split their Lightning wallets into multiple accounts to create multiple users, such as friends and family.
“If you’ve wanted to create Lightning wallets for your friends and family on your Umbrel, you’ll love LNbits,” the Umbrel team tweeted.
LNbits joins three other Lightning apps that Umbrel already supports, along with block explorer, BTCPay payment service server, and Specter Desktop for multi-signature transactions on hardware wallets.
